VIC: 3AW makes it five wins in a row in radio ratings battle

MELBOURNE, Aug 7 AAP - Talkback station 3AW has continued its dominance of the Melbourne
radio market by topping the ratings survey for the fifth survey in a row.

The Southern Cross Broadcasting-owned station came in at number one in the latest Nielsen
Media Research radio ratings survey.

The station continued to improve in the lucrative timeslots of breakfast, mornings
and drive to win the overall ratings.

The Austereo-owned Fox FM retained its grip on the second spot, with Nova 100 third
and ABC 774 fourth.

Talkback host Neil Mitchell was still number one in the mornings time slot, improving
on his previous ratings figure of 14.9 per cent share of listeners to 16.7 per cent.

He was followed by music station Gold FM and ABC 774 in third place.

3AW's Ross Stevenson and John Burns kept the number one spot in the highly-competitive
breakfast time slot, followed by Red Symons on ABC 774 in second place and the Nova 100
Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek breakfast team in third.

There was no change in the order for the drive shift from the previous survey, with
Fox FM's comedy duo Hamish and Andy remaining at number one, 3AW's Derryn Hinch second
and Nova 100 third.
