Fed: falling coconuts a health hazard in Pacific
Visitors to the Pacific islands are being warned to watch out for falling coconuts.
A surgeon in the Solomon Islands says that injuries from falling out of coconut palms
or being hit on the head by nuts are as common as traffic and sports-related injuries.
Dr HERMANN OBERLI, a consultant at Honiara's Central Referral Hospital, says local
children are at particular risk because they climb trees to collect the nuts.
