FED: Mint to launch new coins
CANBERRA, Jan 1 AAP - The Royal Australian Mint today launches its 1999 series of coins
featuring a new-look Queen plus four new coin sets.
The new image of the Queen will be imprinted on all new coins entering circulation later in
1999 and is the fourth to be used on Australian coins since Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953.
It will replace a portrait of the Queen in use since 1985, the Mint said in a statement.
Also to be released today is the 1999 six coin set featuring the logo of the International
Year of Older People on the $1 coin, with standard designs …
